I recently read/listened to the Fallen Academy series by Leia Stone and I really enjoyed it. I was doing a job which allowed me to wear headphones so I basically devoured this series.
The whole angel/demon/religion premise was slightly off-putting at first but Stone wrote the angels in a way that was respectful of other religions.
The basic premise is classic YA dystopian fiction. Girl goes to important future determining ceremony, assumes she’ll be x and turns out to be special.
Brielle is promised to the demons due to some shady deal her mother made to save her father’s life. She is meant to work for said demon and attented Tainted Academy once her powers are revealed.
She and many other kids have powers because angels came to Earth to fight the Devil and consequently shared some of their powers.
When her powers are revealed both the angels and demons want her and she is forced to choose a side. All while dealing a super hot MMC who is training her.
I really enjoyed it and there were lots of twists and turns to keep you interested.
HOWEVER, the narrator only does one kind of male voice, which would be fine if it didn’t sound super evil and creepy. It was really irritating but the story made up for it.
